Glory, glory halleluiah! This just in! the City of Frisco has taken down those oppressive Stage 3 water restriction signs. As of June 6, 2007, The City Council modified its Stage 3 water restrictions to allow residents to water landscape twice a week.
Free at last! Free at last! Free from the vice grip of the City of Frisco! No more tickets for washing our cars, no more citations for watering our pots on Thursdays. Water can once again flow through the concrete alleys, and broken sprinklers can splatter into te streets. This is, after all, America.
Not so fast. It seems the powers that be are still holding the reins. "Effective July 1, 2007, the watering schedule will move from one day a week totwo days a week, based on address. Residents with street addresses ending in evennumbers can water on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Residents with street addressesending in odd numbers should water on Thursdays and Sundays. All non-residentialcustomers can water on Mondays and Fridays (see page 2). Modified Stage 3 time-of dayrestrictions remain the same, banning watering between the hours of 5 a.m. and 8a.m., and between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m."
Bla, bla bla ... I'm surprised they haven't voted to impose a curfew for adults, seeing how controlling the city council is. Give us a break. The golf course is flooded out! There is water everywhere! Why on earth would you limit water usage? We are Americans! We can monitor our own usage, thank you.
While FRISCO is allowing us to water twice a week, it is also offering residents a one time, $100 rebate if they install an irrigation device, known as an ‘ET’ controller, which is designed to save water – and money. Gee willikers.
"Effective immediately residents can wash vehicles with a hand held hose and a
spay nozzle. " Golly gee. I was thinking of using a bucket and a sponge. I'm also using some windex from the dollar store. Hope I don't get a ticket!
"The council’s decision to modify Stage 3 rules was based on, improved drought
conditions, a recommendation from the Public Works Department and a confidence that
water conservation has become a way of life for Frisco citizens."
Frisco, you're not even giving your residents a chance to take responsibility. You're too busy imposing restrictions.
